Put your new website on your domain at Namecheap
About 10 minutes. You change three settings at Namecheap. Your domain stays where it is and your email keeps working. Your panel checks each setting for you as you make it.
You need your Namecheap username and password. Keep your panel open in another tab: you copy your site's address from its Domain tab.
The three settings
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | www | your site's address — copy it from the Domain tab of your panel |
| A | @ | 137.66.50.77 |
| AAAA | @ | 2a09:8280:1:0:0:1a0:bb93:0 |
@ means the domain itself; some screens call it the "host" or leave it blank. Leave every other setting exactly as it is: your email depends on them.
Step by step
Sign in to Namecheap
Go to namecheap.com and click Sign in at the top of the page. Type your Namecheap username and password and click Sign in. If Namecheap asks for a code, type the one it sends you.

Tap the picture to see it bigger. Open your domain
In the menu on the left, click Domain List. Find your domain in the list and click Manage next to it.

Tap the picture to see it bigger. Open Advanced DNS
At the top of the page, click the Advanced DNS tab. You see a list called Host Records. Each line in it is one setting, with a Type, a Host and a Value.

Tap the picture to see it bigger. Change the www line
Find the line with www under Host. On many Namecheap domains it is a CNAME Record that says parkingpage.namecheap.com. Click its value, delete it, and paste your site's address from the Domain tab of your panel. Then click the green check mark at the end of the line to save it.
No www line? Click Add New Record, choose CNAME Record, type www under Host and paste the address under Value. Is the www line a different type, such as A Record? Remove it with the trash bin at the end of the line, then add the new line.
Tap the picture to see it bigger. Remove the parking redirect
Look for a line called URL Redirect Record with @ under Host. Namecheap puts it on new domains, and it would send visitors away from your new site. Click the trash bin at the end of that line to remove it. Remove an ALIAS line with @ the same way, if you have one. No such lines? Go on to the next step.

Tap the picture to see it bigger. Set the A line for @
Find the line called A Record with @ under Host. Click its value and replace it with the A address from the table above. Then click the green check mark to save it.
No such line? Click Add New Record, choose A Record, type @ under Host and the A address under Value. If there are two or more A Record lines with @, keep one with our address and remove the others with the trash bin.
Tap the picture to see it bigger. Add the AAAA line
Click Add New Record. In the Type list, choose AAAA Record. Type @ under Host and the AAAA address from the table above under Value. Leave TTL on Automatic and click the green check mark.
Already have an AAAA Record line with @? Click its value and change it to ours instead.
Tap the picture to see it bigger. Look over the list
Your Host Records now show a CNAME Record for www with your site's address, an A Record for @ and an AAAA Record for @. Namecheap may show a dot at the end of your site's address. That is normal. Any other lines, such as TXT Record, stay as they are.
Check it in your panel
Go back to your panel, open the Domain tab and click Check my settings again. Each setting says done once the internet sees it. Namecheap says new settings usually take about 30 minutes. We email you the moment your new site shows on your domain.
Good to know
Do not change Nameservers on the Domain tab, and leave the Mail Settings part of the Advanced DNS page as it is. They carry your email.
No Add New Record button, or no Host Records list at all? Then your domain's settings are kept somewhere else, such as your web host. Ask in your panel's Help tab and we sort it out with you.
Under Host, type only www or @. Namecheap adds your domain name by itself.
Stuck, or not sure?
Open the Help tab in your panel and write what you see, in your own words. We answer within minutes and walk you through it.
Changed your mind? Your panel keeps today's settings. Put them back at Namecheap and your old website returns, usually within an hour. If you turned off a forwarding or a connection on the way, turn it back on too.
